Drivers can claim payout of up to $4,595 in ‘hood’ settlement if they drove certain car – act by midnight

DRIVERS have the opportunity to collect a direct payment of nearly $5,000 – but only if they drove a specific kind of car.

Eligible Americans also have just hours to submit their claim form for the settlement, with the deadline set to pass at midnight tonight.

The settlement payout resolves claims that Mitsubishi sold its 2022 Outlander vehicles with defective hoods that can move while driving.

Owners said their hoods would flutter and bounce up and down as the vehicle was being driven, allegedly posing a safety risk to drivers and passengers.

Mitsubishi has admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement, but is agreeing to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the lawsuit, which will be used to compensate affected owners.

Outlander owners who haven’t yet had their hood repaired will now be able to do so for free under the car’s newly extended warranty.
