His testimony followed prosecutors’ claim that relatively few pills were missing from nine prescription bottles handed to police after the killings.
Patrick said he had not attended most of Clancy’s appointments, many of which took place through Zoom or other telehealth services.
He described her insomnia as a “huge problem” and said she once went 48 hours without sleeping.
“I just wanted her to sleep and get better,” he told the court.
Patrick said Seroquel affected his then-wife “very negatively” while she was already struggling with severe anxiety.
“She was extremely sleep deprived and just highly anxious,” he said.
He recalled seeing Clancy rock back and forth on the couch with her head buried beneath a pillow.
The defense also highlighted longer periods when Patrick had left Clancy alone with the children before their deaths.
