Woman Arrested For Intimidation Outside Courthouse Where Lindsay Clancy Jury Deliberating

A stunning new development erupted outside the Massachusetts courthouse where jurors are deciding Lindsay Clancy’s fate, as state police arrested a woman on a witness-intimidation charge just minutes after the deadlocked panel was dismissed following another grueling day of deliberations on Tuesday night.

Massachusetts State Police identified the woman as Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton, who was taken into custody at approximately 3:40 p.m. outside the Plymouth courthouse complex as jurors were leaving after failing to reach a verdict.

Light was charged with one count of intimidation of a witness, juror, or person furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.

State police have not publicly disclosed exactly what Light allegedly did and, critically, authorities have not officially confirmed that the charge is connected to the nationally watched Clancy triple-murder trial.

The timing nevertheless immediately raised eyebrows because the arrest occurred within minutes of jurors being released after their fourth day of deliberations in a case that has attracted intense media attention, crowds outside court and a fierce nationwide debate over criminal responsibility and postpartum mental illness.

Any attempt to intimidate, influence or improperly identify jurors would strike directly at the integrity of the American jury system, although Light remains merely accused at this stage and is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless prosecutors prove the charge against her.
