Democratic Socialists Co-Chair Sparks Bipartisan Alarm

All are expected to cruise to victory in November in solidly Democratic districts, potentially swelling the ranks of DSA-aligned members beyond the current duo of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib.

The rise of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, himself a Democratic socialist, has only amplified the group’s national profile.

Even some Democrats are sounding the alarm, recognizing that these positions are political suicide outside the most insulated progressive bubbles.

Annie Andrews, a Democrat running for Senate in South Carolina, did not hold back: “I can’t understand how anyone claiming to fight for working people could hold and promote such ludicrous beliefs. These ideas don’t reflect American values, and they certainly don’t represent South Carolina. If this is what the DSA stands for, it’s completely un-American and unhinged.”

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, no stranger to progressive politics, cut straight to the point: “This isn’t a big tent—it’s anarchy. Why can’t Dems call out the DSA?”

Activist Shannon Watts warned that the platform would alienate the very voters Democrats need: “The people we need most to vote with our party, including moderates and independents, will look at this list and think ‘WTF’.”
