Arrest Warrant Issued For Stein After No-Show Over Alleged Assault on Cop

“There will be a failure to appear warrant for Ms. Stein,” the judge stated from the bench.

Hours later, Welch appeared and moved to quash the warrant.

Judge Johnson granted the request, withdrew the order, and continued the case to September 14.

The new filing carries a stark note: “Warrant to issue if Defendant fails to appear.” Stein must appear in person.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith previously emphasized that the charges are not about free speech or the substance of the protest over the situation in Gaza.

“These misdemeanor criminal charges are not a statement about the freedoms of speech or assembly, which we honor and uphold as part of our Constitution,” she said when the charges were filed.

“They are not a statement about the subject of the protest… These charges merely reflect our professional judgment that we have the evidence to prove these particular criminal charges beyond a reasonable doubt,” she added.

Only Stein and one other individual ultimately faced formal charges from the mass arrests.

Stein has long positioned herself as a radical “eco-socialist” voice, repeatedly labeling Israel’s defensive actions in Gaza as “genocide” and aligning with far-left causes that frequently spill into campus disorder and confrontations with law enforcement.
