A Virginia Republican committee election has been overturned following allegations of voting irregularities and membership manipulation in Warren County.

The Warren County Republican Committee held a mass meeting on February 12 at the Front Roland Volunteer Fire Department where members voted on leadership and committee membership. The event drew over 400 attendees, a record number for such gatherings in the region.

What Happened

Scott Lloyd, a former Trump administration official who ran for chairman of the committee, filed an appeal challenging the election results. Lloyd’s appeal documents include affidavits from attendees describing voting irregularities and access issues during the meeting.

According to the appeal materials, some individuals reported receiving ballots who were not registered Republican committee members. Multiple attendees stated they were turned away from voting without being notified of a cutoff time for registration and voting.

The committee also reduced its membership from 251 to 102 members during the meeting. Sheriff’s office personnel were involved in reviewing approximately 180 membership applications and selecting which would be accepted for membership.
