Vance Says Federal Task Force Has Identified $230 Billion In Fraud

He alleged that fraudulent companies had exploited the program by billing for services that were never provided, enriching themselves while reducing resources available for families who genuinely needed assistance.

“So who loses in that equation?” Vance asked. “Number one, of course, is the American taxpayer that is $230 billion poorer because of the fraud that this country has let go on.”

“But I actually think most importantly is that we’ve seen that program run out of money,” he continued. “So we’ve seen moms and babies unable to access the healthcare that they need because the fraudsters have gotten rich. That is a disgrace.”

Vance argued that meaningful action to combat the problem only began after President Trump directed his administration to prioritize fraud investigations across federal agencies.

“And until the president ordered us to stop it, no one was doing anything about it,” Vance said.

Following the vice president’s remarks, Trump praised Vance’s leadership of the task force and compared him to legendary Prohibition-era lawman Eliot Ness, who became known for leading the effort to dismantle Al Capone’s criminal organization, Breitbart News reported.

The administration has not yet released a detailed public accounting of the $230 billion figure discussed during the Cabinet meeting, but officials indicated additional enforcement actions and fraud investigations are expected as the task force continues reviewing federal programs for improper payments and fraudulent claims.
