Vance Says DOJ Is Investigating Ilhan Omar Amid Growing Scrutiny

No criminal charges have ever been filed against Omar related to those allegations

The renewed scrutiny also comes as Republicans in Minnesota continue pressing questions surrounding the massive Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, one of the largest COVID-era fraud cases in American history.

Republican lawmakers have attempted to connect Omar to individuals or organizations involved in that scandal, particularly through her support for pandemic-era food assistance expansions under the federal MEALS Act.

Earlier this month, Republicans on a Minnesota House committee attempted to subpoena Omar for documents related to the investigation

That effort failed after Democrats blocked the move in a tied committee vote.

GOP lawmakers have argued that pandemic waivers and loosened oversight created conditions that allowed widespread abuse in child nutrition programs.
