Trump’s Triumphal Arch Wins Approval From Key Committee

Trump has installed multiple allies on key federal commissions overseeing architecture and urban development in the capital, allowing his administration to fast-track several high-profile projects.

The triumphal arch is only one piece of Trump’s broader transformation campaign. Construction is already underway on a massive new White House ballroom project that has sparked additional political controversy in Congress.

Senate Democrats recently celebrated after the Senate parliamentarian blocked an attempt by Republicans to include $1 billion in White House security upgrades connected to the ballroom project inside a broader immigration funding package.

Still, Republicans have vowed to revise and resubmit portions of the legislation while continuing to defend Trump’s modernization efforts around the White House complex.

The National Capital Planning Commission is expected to review the project next on June 4.
