The timing of the departure matters. With the September legislative sprint coming — the SAVE America Act still unresolved, Reconciliation 3.0 to be completed, government funding to be secured before September 30 — whoever replaces Braid will step into the fire immediately. Identifying and confirming a capable successor before the Senate returns from recess should be the administration’s first priority.
