The California Democrat, who served as House speaker from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023, holds the title of “Speaker Emerita” after Democrats lost control of the chamber in the 2022 midterm elections. Much of the scrutiny has centered on her husband, venture capitalist Paul Pelosi, who has drawn attention for a series of well-timed stock trades.

Among them, Paul Pelosi sold $500,000 in Visa stock before the government launched antitrust proceedings against the company, and he divested 5,000 shares of Microsoft stock shortly before a Federal Trade Commission probe. Critics, including former President Donald Trump, have alleged that the couple’s fortune was boosted by insider information, though Pelosi has consistently denied wrongdoing.
