Ground Beef Is Almost 7 Bucks a Pound — Trump Just Cut a Deal to Drop It 25%

As Trump put it: “This deal will reduce prices for Americans while giving space for our Great American Beef Herd to grow again.”

That sentence is the entire governing philosophy in miniature. Not a choice between helping American families and helping American producers — but a deal structured to accomplish both simultaneously, with a time limit that ensures the short-term relief doesn’t become a permanent structural disadvantage for domestic ranchers.

The contrast with the Biden approach deserves to be named. Biden watched beef prices rise 57 percent over five years. He watched the cattle herd shrink. He did nothing — because doing something would have required trade negotiations, tariff adjustments, and the willingness to upset somebody’s political coalition in exchange for actually delivering for working families. Biden’s economic philosophy was to let prices rise, blame corporate greed, and propose spending programs that added to the inflation he was generating.

Trump’s approach is to make deals. Canada blinked on tariffs this week. Ground beef prices are dropping by executive deal this week. Drug prices just posted their biggest annual decline in 60 years. Tax refunds are at historic highs. Record-low unemployment claims. Eighty-three thousand construction workers building factories.
