Five cheapest places to retire revealed – and three are in the same state

Average seasonal temperatures in the winter get down to only 60 degrees Fahrenheit, with spring at 78, summer at 91, and fall at 75.

Median monthly rent is just $632, well below the national average of around $2,025, according to Zillow.

Harlingen, located at the southernmost tip of Texas, is fourth on the list of cheapest places to retire in the US, with a monthly rent of $695.

The median home value is just $155,400 as well, and commutes take only around 16 minutes.

Seasonal weather is fairly similar to Eagle Pass, too.

Coming in fifth overall is Mission, only 42 miles due west of Harlingen.

Monthly rent is just a bit higher, with a median of $777, and median home values hover around $186,063.

The other cities that came in the second and third in the top five were Decatur, Illinois, and Bay City, Michigan.
