Goodbye to right on red? Over 700,000 drivers face new traffic rules under safety plan

NEARLY a million drivers could soon be banned from turning right on red under a new proposal.

Residents say the rule would slow down traffic and doesn’t need to be extended to local neighborhoods.

Nashville, Tennessee, is weighing a proposal to prohibit drivers from turning right on red.

The bill was introduced in the Metro Council and would impact downtown Nashville and surrounding neighborhoods.

Councilmember Sandra Sepulveda proposed the bill on Tuesday to protect pedestrians.

Twenty pedestrians have been killed while crossing the street in Nashville this year.
